What is fine finishing with hand files?
Finishing with hand files is one of the oldest methods of metalworking. Finishing involves using a series of progressively finer files to smooth, shape, and deburr the metal surface. Hand filing is a process that produces very precise results. Hand filing allows precise control over the final shape and finish of the metal. It is also often more cost-effective than using power tools, with no expensive specialised equipment needed. The finished job is largely dependent on the skill of the metalworker. Buy nib files online
Buy nib files from DTC. These should be used in one direction only to remove sags and runs on primer or top coat and used on dry paint only. After use, the surface should be cleaned with a wire brush.
Needle file sets
Buy our set of six needle files complete with a plastic carrying case. The six needles included are flat taper, half round, three square, square, round, and flat parallel styles.
