Direct Tool Company Ltd supports WORKAID charity

Southampton (UK) based Direct Tool Company (DTC) has today donated thousands of pounds of hand tools and abrasives from their wide range of products to Buckinghamshire based charity WORKAID.

Collecting unwanted tools and equipment, WORKAID refurbish and distribute them to people in need, to help them learn a skill and earn a living. They are committed to tackling poverty by helping disadvantaged young people in East Africa and in the UK, to help themselves through skills training.

Working with projects in the poorest regions of Uganda, Zambia and Tanzania, WORKAID has empowered people to learn trade skills that will help them find employment or establish small businesses.

Tim Wakeford, Managing Director at DTC stated “As a company, we really understand the value of tools in helping build businesses from the ground up. What we have done today is to quite literally give people the tools they need to go out and feed themselves and their families by learning a trade and therefore supporting themselves for life.  All of us here at DTC hope our donation will be a long-term solution in enhancing people’s lives and empowering them to move themselves out of poverty; I am delighted that we could play a small part in that journey.”
