Our History

Founded in 1990, we have grown from a small, mobile based local delivery service to a nationwide, trusted distributor of over 50,000 products.

Tim Wakeford starts the Direct Tool Company, selling door to door to local garages and workshops.


1990

Purchased and set up in our first premises in a local shopping area.


1994

Outgrowing the shop, we purchased some farm buildings and converted them into a warehouse, trade counter and offices.


2002

Luke Wakeford joins DTC as a warehouse assistant.


2003

Rick Wakeford joins the family business, working in the warehouse.


2005

With the range of products offered rapidly expanding, we started offering mail order services with the launch of our first catalogue.


2006

As access to and use of the internet grows we launch our first website.


2011

The branding is relaunched with a new look and feel.


2014

The team continues to grow – with a few familiar faces still with us today!


2016

The BAXT brand was launched, exclusively through DTC.


2017

DTC HUB stock management platform was developed and launched


2018

New warehouse completed to accommodate our increasing ranges of products and stock levels.


2019

Another new warehouse built as products and sales continue to grow.


2021

The DTC brand is redesigned and relaunched.
