  • Key Information
3M 4000 UV marine adhesive sealant is a one-part polyurethane designed as both a marine sealant and a marine adhesive in a single cartridge. It cures to form a firm, rubbery, waterproof seal with high bond strength and the flexibility needed to absorb the shock, vibration, swelling and shrinking typical of vessel life above and below the waterline. The 4000 UV formulation is specifically positioned as a more UV-stable, easier-to-finish alternative to marine sealant 3M 5200. Where 3M 5200 offers an aggressive permanent bond best suited to concealed structural joints, 3M 4000 UV delivers superior UV resistance and a cleaner cosmetic finish, making it the preferred choice for visible applications, porthole frames, deck fittings, mouldings, trim, and through-hull hardware where long-term appearance matters. For buyers cross-shopping marine silicone sealant, 3M 4000 UV provides substantially stronger bonding and better long-term performance than traditional silicones, while retaining the flexibility needed for marine joint movement. Apply 3M 4000 UV for marine applications above and below the waterline, including typical bedding and sealing jobs on fibreglass hulls, wood-to-fibreglass joints, porthole frames, deck fittings, mouldings, through-hull installations and deck hardware. Its low VOC 20-minute skin time allows work to progress quickly, and the cured sealant is non-sagging, non-cracking and non-corrosive, making it suitable for all-weather marine use and general industrial bonding where UV exposure is a factor.
